Week 5

Seriously, it cannot already be week 5?!  Where in the heck dose the time go?!  I hope everyone had the time to enjoy your Sunday and watch the Broncos beat up on Oakland!

My Sunday started with a run around Harriet, we made it around 1.5 times stopped at the park to let Addi play and then finished.  That's the longest she has let me take her since she was just a couple weeks old and slept the whole time.

We then ventured to Stillwater to see some sights, stopped at an apple orchard and pumpkin patch as well.  Visited with my grandma, aunt and cousin then spent some quality time at Menards.  We finally put in a new doorbell and child locks on some cupboards Addi really should not get into anymore.

Now I am writing this and enjoying a tall glass of water with lemon.....yummy!

Monday Plan:
-Protein/water, apple
-peanut butter/celery
-Leftover beef stew
-Last decent run until the TC 10k on Saturday
-Family dinner, I am not sure what Adam has on the agenda, I am sure grilled something since its still so nice out

I am doing mid point measurements this week and still taking requests for the day/time of our gathering, I am thinking its going to be the 14th.  I will keep you updated.

Our Weekend in pictures!
Someone did not want to go to bed Friday night

Swim time! Look at that follow through!

Passed out on the way to visit Grandma and go shopping

Hey, I am not asleep!

Some pumpkins

She learned last weekend how to feed the goats and continued today

She loves her animals! Now whenever she sees an animal through a fence she tries to feed them grass, like our neighbor dogs.

Time for a hay ride through a corn field

Go Broncos and Vikings

Our pumpkins, Dad, Mom, Addison, Louis and Sally (the dogs of course)

Lets make a mess of the basement and throw balls all over

Ok, break time to steal moms belt and watch football

HAVE A GREAT WEEK and Happy October!

Saturday, September 29, 2012

I hope your Saturday was awesome!

Good evening!  We just put Addison down after a long Saturday filled with swimming, shopping, trampoline jumping, birthday party and celebrations........its not even 9pm.

I am excited to be done shopping for Addison's winter wardrobe, but I don't think your really ever done.  This is the first season we have really had to go shopping, for her first 15 months of life most of her clothes were presents.  I am so grateful for all the generous people in our life but it was kinda fun to buy the stuff we want.

With all the "on the go" and evening of partying I would say my water intake is down and there were even my two alcoholic beverages for the week.  Its crazy how when you never really drink that two Crispin Cider beers can catch up to you.  At least they were gluten free :)

My Sunday Plan:
-apple and peanut butter
-Morning run around lake Harriet, here is to hoping Addison lets me go 2 times!
-Sunday brunch and football!  Eggs, bacon, sausage, protein pancakes
-Football, snacks will include-popcorn, grilled chicken and raw veggies
-LOTS OF WATER, to re-hydrate after today, it will be interesting to see how the run goes in the morning

Have a great night, and remember........

Good weekend?

Happy weekend and what a great weekend it should be.  Beautiful weather is forecast-ed all weekend so it should not get much better than this.

Are you going to stay on track this weekend?  I am sure planning to, planning is key! When you know you have things going on, plan ahead.  When your going places, plan ahead.  Planning literally makes eating good a breeze, once you get the hang of it.

Saturday Plan
-Protein/water, apple
-Addison swim lessons!
-Lunch with family, not sure where yet, I will either order a salad or meat/veggies
-Run with Adam (I have a 10k in one week, ahhhh)
-ostrich jerky while running errands
-beef stew, loaded with veggies, I am putting it in the crock pot in the AM so its ready for dinner when we get hungry

Are you set up for success this weekend?

Tomorrow is my Friday!

I cant believe that tomorrow is already my Friday.  What a great week so far and I am excited for the rest of the week and weekend.

With life, family, friends, work, rest, fun and everything else going on how do you find time to workout, prep your food, rest and get everything else done?

Here are some tips I use when trying to keep my hectic life organized:

How to create a highly effective schedule
1       Consider getting a gmail account and creating a Google calendar or using your phone with all your emails/calendars synced. This way, you can access it from anywhere, and it will serve you very well during your busiest times. Whatever you decide for calendars, be sure to have ONE central calendar to track your events and time.

The calendar should include all of your tasks for the day, hour by hour (or in smaller increments i.e. 15 minutes)

3       Make a list of categories that need to be on your calendar. Assign a color to each category. Here are some suggestions:
·         Work
·         Family commitments
·         Household commitments (i.e. cutting the lawn, cooking, cleaning . . .)
·         Workouts & other recreation/sports commitments
·         Driving time
·         Fun things
·         Time to get organized for the coming day or week
·         Time for basic needs (sleeping, eating, showering . . .)

4       Put the commitments into your calendar. If they do not all fit, realize that you may have to be creative and work on prioritizing. For example eating breakfast and cooking lunch may have to co-exist. Eating lunch and catching up with your friends is a great way to accomplish multiple things at once.

5       If you need help setting up your calendar, fitting in your commitments, or finding time to study, ask for help. If you find that your schedule is not working, re-evaluate it and revise it.

My Thursday Plan:
-Protein/water, apple
-celery/peanut butter
-salad bar
-Olive oil mayo egg salad with pickles, celery and tuna
-turkey chili for Thursday night Football

I don't think a workout will be on my agenda which is fine because Friday, Saturday and Sunday I will get great ones in.

Good night and have a great Thursday!

Already mid-week

Before we know it the weekend will be here again but until then we will focus on Wednesday!

My Tuesday was great, I had lots of water, great food and stayed busy.  My tomorrow will be pretty busy again so good thing I had a great run in Monday.  My hope is to get up early and spend some quality time with my kettle bell.

Wednesday Plan:
-Oatmeal with vanilla protein powder
-Apple, shredded chicken salad
-chocolate protein, water, celery, peanut butter
-turkey roll with pickles, sweet potato fries
Lots of water!

We are approaching the halfway point of our challenge, are you halfway to your goals?  If you want to know where you are feel free to let me know and we can set up a time to get your "mid-point" measurements.

Going into our 4th week!

No way, are we really already going into our 4th week of this thing?!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, enjoyed your time and are ready for another fantastic week.

My Sunday was great until about 7pm when the Broncos lost again, I will be in mourning the rest of the night but I think I will survive.  This week I am set up for success with lots of great groceries and workouts already put into my calendar!

Monday Plan:
-Protein, water, apple
-celery, peanut butter

-LOTS OF WATER, I did better this weekend than I normally do but still not perfect, it will get better

Here is a neat video on metabolic testing!  Knowing your metabolism at rest and while working out is a powerful tool.  I have been performing these tests for years and can perform yours at OSR.

Here are some fun pictures from our apple orchard adventure today in Waconia!

Panoramic photo of some of the orchard with my new iPhone5, have I mentioned I love it!

Stalking the prey for their next apple to put in the bag

Addison would not let go of the first apple we picked and then ate almost half of it, great job Addi.

With her famous first apple

After the orchard we watched the Broncos game with Addison and her little cousin Joel, they got bored with the Broncos poor performance so decided to stare out the window instead.

Thursday night

Good evening!  As soon as I am done with this I am going to head to the TV finish some work and watch THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!  Today was too crazy for a workout which is fine with me because I love every second of my day.

I am seriously so blessed.  I have an amazing husband, adorable & healthy daughter, crazy labs, friends/family who are always there, a place to call home, sweet car (or auditorium as its nicknamed), fulfilling jobs that can pay my bills and leave me with spending money and unique (in a good way) clients.

Seriously, I get to teach eager minded individuals how to become a fitness professional and get paid for it.  I get to help multiple people every day live healthier, lose weight, return to activity and find the motivation inside them to make changes, and get paid for it.

I am so blessed.

Ok, enough about me, how was your Thursday?  I hope you are still doing well and enjoying these fall days.

My Friday Plan:
-apple, 1/2 protein powder and water
-Super hard workout with Danica, she is going down in pullups
-Shower and snack (hard boiled eggs, spinach/bean salad) at Life Time with Addison
-Visit with Peggy, and lots of play with Addison
-Lunch with Adam, Chipotle??
-Nanny interviews, ours is leaving us for a teaching job in October :(
-Dinner with Grandma, taco salads!
-Homecoming football game at my High School (as long as weather cooperates)

Have a great night, I am off to finish some work, watch football and count my blessings.

Who is ready to watch Golden Gopher alum Eric Decker and the Denver Broncos win this Sunday?? See why I like to watch football so much ;)

Can't believe its almost my Friday!

Happy Wednesday to you all and just think the weekend is almost here!  I hope everyone had a great day and found time to eat healthy and be active.

My day was another success, busy as ever but I love every minute of it.  Addison is getting more and more fun to chase around as well!

Thursday Plan:
Protein and water
celery and peanut butter
taco chili
1/2 banana with chicken/bean salad
Hamburgers with avocado and side salad for dinner

I won't have time for a workout but I know I will get a great one in Friday, Saturday and Sunday so I am not worried.  My water intake was way better today which only helps my energy as well.

Enjoy your night!

Already almost Wednesday

Is it really already almost Wednesday?! Wow, that is so hard to believe.  My Broncos lost last night so that was not ideal but I guess you cannot win them all, my voice is still a little hoarse from all the yelling at the TV.

My Tuesday was busy as usual, I did not get time to get a workout in but I plan to get up early to sneak in some strength before I teach at 9am.

Wednesday plan:
-Morning strength
-Eggs and ground turkey
-Taco Chili (new recipe I put in the crock pot this morning, really good!)
-Celery and peanut butter
-Not 100% sure about dinner, I will be busy all day so it will be up to Adam, it will most likely consist of a meat on the grill and some veggies on the grill, can't wait!

My water intake needs to get better, I have really been slacking and I can tell.  I have just been not thinking about it during the day and then trying to play catch up at night.  Tomorrow it will be better.

Have a great Tuesday night and Wednesday!

Football Sunday is back!

Good evening and happy weekend.  It was such a great and busy day for us but I was able to stay on track and keep myself away from temptations.

Addison had her first swim lesson and loved it, she loves water and they even let her hold a ball the whole time after she saw it and kept saying "ball".  She also went on her first light rail ride, visited some great grandparents at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, played with friends, fed ducks and played a lot at the park.    Lets just say she passed out wonderfully tonight after her bath!

Sunday Plan:
-Half scoop protein, water, apple
-Hopefully a 6 mile run, longest Addi has let me go is 4 and I am still pretty sore from my Friday workout
-Brunch with Addi and Adam, leftover protein pancakes (yummmmy), eggs, turkey sausage, pan fried potatoes, peanut butter and bananas
-FOOTBALL, my Broncos don't play until Monday night but I still want to see the Vikings hopefully get another W
-Grilled buffalo chicken and celery, probably some popcorn too during the games
-LOTS OF WATER, I need to keep myself hydrated on the weekends, something I am usually not the greatest at.

Enjoy your Sunday, I know I will!

Addison's evening workout

Great day!

Happy Friday night to you all.  What a beautiful day, not to cold and its not even over yet.

My Saturday Plan:
-Protein/water, apple and peanut butter
-Some work
-Addison Swim Lessons!
-Lunch out with Adam and Addison, not sure where yet but it will be good!

Its my weekend!

Happy Thursday night (FOOTBALL).  Adam and Addison are busy playing with our pin ball machine in the basement while I write this and watch the Packers beat up on the Bears.  I am not a fan of either team but its will fun to watch.

When we put Addi down in an hour I will do some core/punching bag work, just letting my dinner digest now.

Friday Plan:
-apple
-Morning strength/cardio
-Protein Shake (protein, berries, ice, water) while I have a meeting
-Leftover spinach/garbanzo bean salad while I have another meeting
-Walk with Theresa and baby Nora, so excited to meet her
-Stir fry dinner with chicken, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, chicken broth, all served over brown rice

I know with the weekend on the horizon things will be tough, stay strong and know you are making better choices for the long haul!

Addison also caught on to what I was doing and she loves typing on the keyboard so here is a note from her, I am pretty sure it says, Eat Clean and Play Hard

Wed. Night

Good night Wednesday or Good Morning Thursday depending on when you are reading this.

I hope your week is going well and you are finding time to workout and make some healthy foods.  I made some more food last night which will help the rest of this week for me.

Thursday Plan:
Chocolate protein powder and water
celery peanut butter
chicken, potatoes and green beans
apple and hard boiled eggs
salad (garbanzo beans, spinach, tomatoes, vinegar, lemon juice, ground beef)

Football is on again tomorrow night so I might sneak in a workout while I watch but I will also be working out Friday morning so we will see.  I am not a fan of the Packers or Bears so am not sure how much I will watch.

Here is a funny picture I posted on Facebook today, wanted to share with all of you.  Ive only been right a few times over the years ;)

Almost Mid Week

Happy Tuesday night, hope your day was well.

I was able to sample some amazing kale chips today, they were great and had the perfect crunch.
Here is the recipe
Recipe type: snack, chip Prep time: 10 mins Cook time: 20 mins Total time: 30 mins
Ingredients
1 large bunch of kale (I used the curly kind)
1 tablespoon olive oil
sea salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
Wash kale, remove the inner rib or stem, and tear into chip-size pieces. Make the pieces a little larger than you want the chips because they will shrink.
The kale must be thoroughly dried. I ran it through a salad spinner, laid it out on paper towels for 5 minutes, and then ran it through the spinner once more.
Put the kale pieces in a gallon plastic baggie and add the olive oil. “Massage” the kale to ensure that each piece has a coating of oil.
Arrange the kale in a single layer on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or you can place them right on the sheet). You may need a to use more than one sheet or bake in batches.
Sprinkle with sea salt. Use a bit less than you think you need because the kale shrinks and the salt intensifies.
Bake for about 20 minutes, until the kale is crisp and slightly browned.
Enjoy!

Here is my Wednesday plan:
-Early morning run
-Eggs, turkey, celery, peanut butter
-Quinoa salad with carrots, celery, cucumber, ground turkey
-Last 2 leftover BBQ chicken wings and peppers
-Grilled salmon and sweet potato fries
-Hopefully some quality time with my kettle bell tomorrow night

Right when I get done with this I plan to do some cooking for the rest of the week, here is what I am doing:
Cook Brown Rice
Soak black beans
Cook quinoa
Wash/cut peppers
Grill chicken

Good night and have a great Wednesday.

MNF

Monday night football!  Guess who plays next week.......my undefeated Denver Broncos.

Now that football season is alive and going I will be slacking on lots of other important things around the house.  Its ok, February will be here soon enough.  I have now learned I can watch football and eat well!  Yesterday was good and tonight as well, I might need to do more of these challenges around football season.  The savings on going out and alcohol alone would be worth it!

Tuesday Plan:
eggs, turkey sausage
peppers and hummus
spicy turkey chili
leftover bbq chicken and celery
vanilla protein shake with rice milk, reds, greens and cinnamon

Good night and go Ravens and Chargers, only because my fantasy teams need it.

Some good to know info!

Food Ideas

If you are sick of the same old things over and over again here are some different resources I use to get ideas!

Also remember just because something is gluten or dairy free doesn't mean it always healthy, still focus on protein, fruits and vegetables!

Happy Monday!
Sorry, the Broncos kept me busy last night and away from the computer.  They did win so life is great!

Monday Plan:
-Protein powder, water
-apple, turkey wrap
-Lunch will be either Chipotle or another restaurant, I will most likely get a salad or just meat/veggies
-half bowl of chili
-bbq chicken wings and asparagus on the grill for Monday Night Football

I also plan to get a workout in during the game at home, wish me luck!

Happy Monday and make good choices today!

Its the weekend and Starting Stats

Its the weekend! There will be challenges to overcome this weekend I am sure.  Just remember you are doing this to help create a new healthier, happier you!

I had a taco salad for lunch with my mom today and of course I didn't look at the menu and it had sour cream and cheese on it so I had to pick off as much as I could.  Addison was happy to get more cheese and sour cream though!  We also did major grocery shopping and cleaning, that always feels amazing!

I get to go to a family reunion tomorrow for my dads side, most of them smoke and eat pretty unhealthy so we are planning to eat before we go and bring some healthy snacks and water along in case we get hungry. Sunday will be another challenge because we will be playing in a charity softball game and then eating with them afterward while watching football....ahhhhhhhh....my favorite things in life outside Adam and Addison. Luckily I have gotten great at saying NO over the years and can always fall back on that.  I let you know if I win any raffle or silent auction items.

My Saturday Plan:
-Small workout of running, I did lots of strength today so need to recover
-Chocolate protein and water
-sweet potato fries with grilled chicken (I am going to miss grilling when its cold)
-snacks of mixed nuts, beef jerky and fruit at the reunion
-Not sure about dinner, I just have no idea when we will be home.  Its up in Cambridge so we will most likely end up stopping at a chipotle or salad bar, if we can find one :)

Now on to the good stuff!

I don't have every one's starting measurements in and configured yet, we are close, but here are mine and Adam's:

ADAM
240lbs
13.7% BF
Here are his previous results, he didn't do that bad over the summer!
http://stephaniewinters.blogspot.com/2012/06/some-results.html

9/4/12

STEPH- I remembered to take before pictures this time!
155lbs - literally the first time I weighed myself since the last challenge, I ended that one at 148lbs
23.2% body fat
Here are my previous results as well, I gained some weight but mostly muscle which has been my goal, it feels great to finally be able to lift heavy objects again!

Good night and good luck this weekend!

Almost the weekend!

Good evening!  I hope this post finds you all happy and feeling healthier by the day.

I was able to take a whole bunch of starting measurements today, and our challenge is still growing daily.  Monday is the cut off unless you have a very valid reason so get me times to do your measurements before then if you haven't already.

My Thursday went just as planned, no workout, I planned for that though.  My body is still very sore from this last weekend so I figured I should be nice to it, plus I have a great workout planned for the morning!

FRIDAY!!
I don't work Fridays so they are always all over the place.  I love being able to spend the day with little Addison and catch up with friends, family and life events!

Turkey wrapped in lettuce and mustard, maybe a pickle too!
Workout!!!!!! (mostly strength, my favorite)
Lunch with my mom (I honestly have no idea, taco salad?)
Grocery shopping with Adam and Addison for the weekend and next week
mixed nuts for snack while out shopping
Black bean burgers, crumbled in a salad of mixed greens and homemade dressing

Water will be my biggest struggle, it always is on Fridays.  I am always busy and constantly on the go so I need to either find places to fill my bottle or just penny up and buy some.

Have a great Friday!

Football season has arrived!

Who is ready for some football?!  Growing up in Denver I became a Broncos fan from a very young age and am still a fan through the good and bad.  Here is to hoping this is a great year, good excitement and a dream of a Superbowl, maybe, just maybe.

How was your day today?  My day was great, as planned and I am already prepped for tomorrow.

Thursday:
Chocolate protein powder and water
apple and turkey jerky
Turkey chili
peanut butter and celery
taco bowl (shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, hot sauce, ground beef, avocado, corn, black beans, re-fried beans, brown rice)

I don't think I will have time for a workout but who knows, might have to make something up after Addison goes to bed.

I am off to finish watching the Cowboys vs. Giants and plan some sort of fall getaway!

Go Broncos!

End of day 1

Day 2 plan:
small lift
Eggs of some sort at life time with a side of fruit
chocolate protein powder with water
turkey chili (turned out great)
applesauce, peanuts and carrots
Turkey burger (just meat) with avocado, brown rice, steamed broccoli and cauliflower
